| Dillsburg's History |
| In consideration of the exemplary service of
Captain Matthew Dill, proprietaries and governors of the province
of Pennsylvania granted to him a tract of 504 acres. Early
settlement took place on this land, nestled in the foothills of
the beautiful and historic Blue Ridge Mountains. Dillsburg
was eventually laid out on a portion of that land, then owned by
heirs of Captain Dill. |
| |
| Dillsburg is situated at the convergence of major
transportation routes which once made the community a focal point
for area agricultural products being moved to market. Dillsburg's
population neared 200 at its incorporation in 1833. |
| |
| Currently, Dillsburg is a growing community uniting
surrounding areas with its community activities, Annual Farmer's
Fair, and now famous New Year's Eve Pickle Drop. |
| |
| Population: A 2000 census put the population
at 2,063. |
