HAPPENINGS OCTOBER - NOVEMBER 2005

Fall is the season for learning about NATIVE AMERICANS at the Dillsburg Area Public Library, which is located at 17 South Baltimore St., Dillsburg, PA.  Be sure to stop and take a look at the shelves inside the door.

This year’s winter program series is entitled “Natives and Settlers:  The Fight over Turf in Pennsylvania.”  The second in this series is “The French and Indian War” and will be presented by Stephen Runkle on November 17th at 7:00 p.m.  This series of programs is made possible by grants that our library has had the good fortune to be awarded for the seventh year in a row.

An afternoon of fun is planned for all ages in observance of National Games Week. At the library on Sunday, November 20, 2005 from 2 until 4.  Douglas Braasch will demonstrate board games such as Scrabble, chess and Monopoly, jacks, dominoes, and cards.  Light refreshments will be served.  For a great opportunity to get involved in activities that encourage family conversation and interaction, join us at the library for fun and GAMES!

One section of our library that is often overlooked is the magazine section.  You can look at and check out over 20 different magazines.  Next time you come to visit you just might find something new and interesting.

The Library is always looking for volunteers.  We currently have some open time slots, and if you are interested please call Sheri Murray, or leave a message with Edie Dodson, or stop in.  The phone number is 432-5613.

Randy A. Donath is the new artist for October.  He is presenting a collection of photographs for all of us to enjoy.  The collection is dominated by subjects from nature, although the subject matter varies.

By donation, we have added to our collection a large number of Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation books for your reading enjoyment.
