Pennsylvania residents will be able to choose their electricity
provider over the next few years.
Hey Dillsburg...that means you! You can sign up for the Electric
Choice Enrollment at GPU's
web-site.
There are probaby 3 factors in choosing an "electricity provider":
1 - Price: show me the money!
2 - Service: this is a very popular word which comes
from the latin word "servientae" which
means "the person you talk to after
navigating through a cumbersome series
of menus on your touch-tone phone".
3 - Safety: TMI is very close to being sold. Hopefully
the new owners
will not take the "one nuclear accident
every 20 years" slogan of the last owners to heart.
Number 3 should be the most important. However, most people
will just try to find the lowest pricing available...and
so will I. Albeit, there is an alternative. The fine folks
at Green Mountain Energy Resources will keep your microwave
on using wind, water, air, solar energy, and more. You can request
service by filling out a short application at their website.
I started to fill out the form...then noticed that the prices were promised
to be between 9 and 19% higher than the average
electricity provider. That sounds like alot of money.
Let's see....the TMI "near accident" was in 1979. Twenty years
later would be....1999. I'll need lots of money for my
big Y2K party: Show me the money!
